City of Douglasville to Host Career Fair

color city logo(Douglasville, GA) – The City of Douglasville will host its inaugural Career Fair on November 2, 2016 at the Douglasville Conference Center, 6700 Church Street and will be held from 3:00pm-7:00pm.

The Career Fair, sponsored by Mercer University, is an initiative created by the City of Douglasville’s very own, Mayor Rochelle Robinson.  As reported by the Georgia Department of Labor, Georgia’s unemployment rate has steadily decreased, with recent reports stating the rate is 4.9% (August 2016).  The City of Douglasville has a slightly higher unemployment rate of 5.7%, according to the City Labor Force Estimates (Preliminary August 2016).    With the first Career Fair, Mayor Robinson and the City of Douglasville hope to aid in decreasing the unemployment rate locally and hopefully match that of the State of Georgia’s.

The Career Fair is designed to assist employers, recruiters and schools by providing a comfortable interactive space between themselves and potential employees.  This event will hopefully help Douglasville fill workforce gaps and provide residents with a chance to openly engage and seek new career opportunities.

The Atlanta Regional Commission Mobile Career Lab will be stationed outside of the Douglasville Conference Center to provide assistance in job readiness and job search activities as well as information on Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act funded training opportunities.  The Mobile Unit will offer a full array of services including all workforce related needs.

The City of Douglasville Career Fair, sponsored by Mercer University, will be held on November 2, 2016 from 3:00pm-7:00pm at 6700 Church Street, Douglasville GA 30134.  Participants will include Belk, Bojangles, Brenau University, Caraustar Industries, Dental Staff School, Diversified Staffing, City of Douglasville Human Resources and Police Department, Douglas County School System, Elwood Staffing, Georgia Department of Labor, Gordon Food Service, Janus International, Mando, Mercer University, Old Navy, Primerica Financial Services, Randstad, University of West Georgia, United States Army and many more!
