Steak n Shake Comes to Douglasville
Owners Ronny Stewart and Jeff Robida celebrated the grand opening of Steak N Shake with a Chamber Ribbon Cutting on December 12th. Firehouse Subs is a friendly sit down or to go sub shop with over 700 locations across the United States. Firehouse Subs is located at 1300 West Corporate Court in Lithia Springs.
Steak ‘n Shake was founded in February, 1934 in Normal, Illinois. Gus Belt, Steak ‘n Shake’s founder, pioneered the concept of premium burgers and milk shakes. For over 79 years, the company’s name has been symbolic of its heritage. The word “steak” stood for steakburger. The term “shake” stood for hand-dipped milk shake. The location of Steak ‘n Shake in Douglasville has been the buzz for many months and business is expected to boom through the holiday season. Stewart mentioned at the ribbon cutting they are proud to announce that they have hired 160 employees to run the 24 hour restaurant.

Commission Chairman Tom Worthan and Mayor Harvey Persons also extended their congratulations and applauded the restaurant for bringing jobs to the community. Several Commissioners and Councilmen were present for the occasion to offer their support for the new business.
