Leadership Douglas Class of 2018 Graduates
The Douglas County Chamber is pleased to announce the 25 graduating members of the Leadership Douglas Class of 2018. The Class of 2018 graduated on May 15th in a ceremony held during the GreyStone Power Luncheon sponsored by Google, Inc.
Leadership Douglas is a program of the Douglas County Chamber Foundation. The graduates, led by co-chairs Mandy Johnson, from Douglas County Schools and James Harper, from First Presbyterian Church included 25 diverse and unique individuals from businesses and organizations in Douglas County who made it their goal over the last year to enhance their leadership skills and community involvement for the betterment of all citizens, businesses, organizations and governments in Douglas County.
Throughout the ten month program, students participated in a variety of activities including presentations, discussions, work sessions, and other activities including water resources, government, health and wellness, arts and culture, public safety, education, government and social services. Participants met and interacted with current community and business leaders throughout the year, gaining contacts and an in-depth understanding of the community.
The Leadership Douglas Class of 2018 created a Community Expansion Fund. This year the fund was awarded to the Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/ Douglas County. These funds will be utilized towards scholarship funds supporting arts camps, community expansion programs and projects, with the intention of supporting the local arts community efforts. It will expand the awareness of accessible arts programming in our community. The class of 2018 intends for this to be an ongoing scholarship and will continue to support it annually, including sharing the opportunity with others to contribute to the fund.
