Douglas County Chamber and Community Leaders Attend Washington D.C. Fly-In

Douglasville, GA (September 29, 2023) – The Douglas County Chamber (DCC) spearheaded a group of community leaders who met with U.S. Senators and Congressional leaders in Washington D.C. on September 26th-28th to discuss topics important to our thriving community.
The Washington D.C. Fly-In offers a collaborative way for government, education, community and business leaders in our community to meet congressional leaders as a collective voice. The group presented twelve federal priorities to leadership in meetings with Senator Jon Ossoff, Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock, Congressman Drew Ferguson, and Congressman David Scott. The federal priorities included two transportation projects, support for initiatives including public safety, healthcare, water, education, and workforce. The trip was led by DCC President & CEO, Sara Ray as well as DCC Board Chair, Nadia Faucette from GreyStone Power Corporation in addition to DCC Government Affairs Council Chair Chris Sizemore from INCISIVE and Vice Chair Blake Doss also from GreyStone Power.
“The Douglas County Chamber is very appreciative of the engagement and dedication of our community and business leaders during our recent Washington, D.C. Fly-In. Their efforts underscore the importance of advocating for Douglas County’s needs and aspirations on the national stage. We are grateful for their commitment to promoting our community and business interests to elected officials in our nation’s capital,” said Sara Ray, Chamber President & CEO.
Leading up to the trip, the Government Affairs Council leadership held over 20 meetings with local stakeholders, community partners, and federal representatives to dive deep into the needs and asks of the Douglas community. From these meetings, a list of federal priorities was created to represent a holistic, unified agenda to discuss with our federal delegation. In addition to the federal meetings, attendees also met with the U.S. Department of Transportation, National Skills Coalition, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
“The Douglas County Chamber’s Washington D.C. Fly-In was a resounding success, bringing together community leaders from all sectors to advocate for our thriving community on the national stage. We are grateful to our Senators, Congressmen, and other federal officials and partners for taking the time to meet with us and hear our priorities. We are confident that our collective voice will make a difference in securing the federal support we need to continue to grow, prosper, and to continue the success in our communities where partnerships and business thrive.”
