DSC_0046 (1024x684)The Douglas County Chamber’s Advancing Modern Professionals in Douglas Program (AMP’D) was pleased to award the recipients of the annual Continuing Education Scholarship at the GreyStone Power Luncheon on August 21st. Recipients were Maegan Day and Brittney McClain, both teachers at Chapel Hill High School, and Brian Howell with HRC Engineers, Surveyors & Landscape Architects.

AMP’D offers scholarships totaling $1,500 to young professionals ages 21-40. The Continuing Education Scholarships are designed for young professionals from Chamber Member businesses that are seeking to continue their education on any level, whether pursuing a college degree, technical certification, or attending a professional development conference. A maximum of $500 is awarded to each individual selected.

Scholarship recipient Maegan Day commented, “The past four years I have been in education have included many life milestones, such as marriage, building a home and starting a family. As life has started to settle, the right time and opportunity has presented itself to work towards completing my teaching certification and this scholarship will help cover the financial needs of the program”.

“This scholarship will allow me to complete the Landscape Architect Registration Exam (LARE). My ultimate goal is to become a licensed Landscape Architect,” commented Brian Howell.

Brittney McClain also commented, “As I have continued to pursue my education, the financial demands have increased. I am grateful for this scholarship as it will help alleviate some of the financial burden and stress from reaching my personal and professional goals.”

Advancing Modern Professionals in Douglas is a program of the Douglas County Chamber Foundation. The mission of AMP’D is to attract emerging professionals to engage, develop, and serve in Douglas County.

Scholarships for 2019 will be available in May. To learn more about AMP’D and its functions, please contact the Chamber at 770.942.5022 or visit www.douglascountygeorgia.com/ampd.
