Chamber Holds Ribbon Cutting to Commemorate McIntosh Academy’s New Name
Owner Jennifer Blair is pleased to announce that Joanne’s Daycare is operating under a new name, McIntosh Academy. Jennifer, her staff, family, and students celebrated commemorated the special occasion on September 23rd with a DC Chamber Ribbon Cutting. McIntosh Academy is located at 1558 McIntosh Road in Douglasville.
Formerly Joanne’s Daycare, McIntosh Academy provides quality childcare education for children ages six weeks to twelve in a warm and loving atmosphere. Children learn and develop through state approved curriculums and activities tailored to their individual needs. Jennifer’s mother opened the daycare in 1980 when she was not pleased with the care her two daughters were receiving at their childcare provider. In 2006 Jennifer’s mother passed away and she and her sister Melissa continued the legacy in their mother’s honor and eight years later it continues to be one of the premier childcare providers in the county. “Even though it was a tough decision to change the name, I am excited about the change McIntosh Academy and look forward to continuing to grow and serve the children that have become like family to me and my staff for many years to come,” commented Blair.
DC Chamber President and CEO, Kali Boatright, congratulated Jennifer on the name change. “The DC Chamber is grateful to have you as a member of our community,” commented Boatright. “I am certain that while the name has changed, the quality of service and the passion you and your staff have for your students, that the legacy you have created in your mother’s honor will continue live on for many years and we look forward to being here to support McIntosh Academy!” Commission Chairman Tom Worthan was also present at the Ribbon Cutting and offered his congratulatory remarks and support on behalf of Douglas County.
