Calling All Elves! The Douglas County 2016 Festival of Trees Wants Your Help!

CALLING ALL ELVES!  Did you know there are only 11 ½ more weeks until Christmas??  Did you know that this year’s Festival of Trees will begin NEXT MONTH???  It’s time to start planning!  This year’s Festival will feature miniature Christmas trees, wreaths, and gingerbread houses!  Any person, business, church, school or organization can submit an entry.  You can submit just one item or multiple items.  This is a great way to advertise for your business.

The items will go on display on the 3^rd Floor of the Douglas County Courthouse on Tuesday, November 1^st through Friday, November 4^th. Please contact Jennifer Moore at 770-920-7440 or dcfestivaloftrees@yahoo.com to set up your submission time. The items will be on display until December 2^nd. The silent auction will be held from November 28^th until December 2^nd at noon.

This year’s beneficiary is Children’s Voice: CASA, Inc. All proceeds will benefit their project of purchasing “Sweet Cases” (Duffel Bag, Hygiene Kit, Blanket, Personal Care Items, etc.) for foster children ages 11-18 (they are already provided for foster children up to age 10.)

As a reminder, the requirements are listed below.

Requirements:

• Miniature Christmas trees and wreaths must be artificial
• Miniature Christmas trees must be 3 ft. and under
• Miniature Christmas trees must have tree skirt
• Wreaths have no size restrictions
• Gingerbread houses must be pre-assembled and on a sturdy wooden base that will stay with the gingerbread house indefinitely
• If your item needs to be plugged up to an electrical outlet, you must provide an extension cord (please mark with your name and it will be returned to you)
• We strongly recommend you secure ornaments onto trees and wreaths with wire
• Please decorate your items with the intention of bringing in the highest bid possible
• Please provide a small sign that tells the name of the company or person entering the tree (you may also leave business cards or pamphlets)
