ACCG AWARDS $5,000 HEALTH & WELLNESS GRANT TO DOUGLAS COUNTY

Thank you to the Douglas County Board of Commissioners office for the content.

Douglas County has been selected by the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) to receive one of fifty employee health promotion and wellness incentive grants awarded State-wide to promote worksite programs designed to enhance the health and wellness of County employees and family members.

The $5,000 grant to the Board of Commissioners will be used to purchase and install treadmills at Douglas County Fire Stations to continue a multi-year fitness program with the Fire/EMS Department. In addition, employees will be offered a confidential health assessment program using a Health Risk Appraisal, with blood pressure screening and health improvement feedback.

Awards are made by the ACCG Group Health Benefits Program which is underwritten by BlueCross and BlueShield of Georgia. Douglas County District 3 Commissioner Mike Mulcare serves as President of the Program’s Board of Directors, who stated that “a successful wellness program is designed to encourage healthy lifestyles, which helps to control health care costs and contribute to a happier, more productive work force. Wellness programs greatly benefit employees, their families and the employer.”
