Being transparent about wages seems to be on the rise, but it may have drawbacks if not executed correctly. Learn the pros and cons of salary transparency below.
Pros of salary transparency
Increases productivity
Being open about how much team members are earning can actually increase their ability to focus and perform. A study done with 280 undergrad students found that those who had knowledge of how they and others in the study would be paid performed better than those who did not. Salary transparency can show that pay and bonuses are merit-based, which encourages employees to work hard and earn them.
