This is Douglas – Meet Rick

Hi, I’m Rick.

People in our community know me as Rick Martin, the name associated with Douglas County Happenings. As Director of Communications and Community Relations for the Douglas County Board of Commissioners, I am responsible for issuing this weekly e-newsletter for the citizens of Douglas County and all interested in knowing what events are going on.

What many people don’t know is that I fell in love with Sweetwater Creek State Park, right here in Douglas County, nearly 20 years ago!  I was supposed to move back to Washington, D.C., but the peace and tranquility and trails at Sweetwater Creek would not let me go. Living near the most visited park in the State of Georgia, I count my blessings that I often am lucky to witness two American Bald Eagles soaring over the lake to their nest. Right in my own back yard!

I am so proud to call Douglas County home because of not only Sweetwater Creek State Park, but the schools, businesses, new restaurants opening and its people who enjoy the outdoors.

To me, there is no better place to experience nature’s beauty other than Sweetwater Creek State Park!
