WSA Hosts Georgia Northwest Region Work Based Learning Student of the Year!

The Douglasville/Douglas County WSA has supported many students over the years and has consistently provided phenomenal internship opportunities. This year they hosted a student who has been recognized as the Georgia Northwest Region Work-Based Learning Student of the Year.

Work-Based Learning and Youth Apprenticeship Coordinator, Kimberly Isles-Towry commented, “On behalf of the 2020-2021 Work-Based Learning State Executive Board, we would like to recognize Jamez McPherson as the Georgia Northwest Region Work-Based Learning Student of the Year.  The Georgia Northwest Region is the largest region in the state and includes: Douglas, Fulton, Clayton, Cobb, Bartow, Carroll, and Floyd counties-to name a few. Jamez has been working as a Work-Based Learning intern with the Douglasville-Douglas County Water and Sewer Authority in the Human Resources Department since August 2020.  He has been offered full time employment with the company and plans to continue working with WSA after graduation. He is receiving a certificate this evening, but will be presented his award during the WBL Business Meeting at the annual Georgia Association of Career and Technical Educators (GACTE) conference this summer.”
