Bill Arp Robotics Team Celebrates a Stellar Season
The Bill Arp Technicators Robotics Team were selected as one of eight teams to advance to the Georgia State Championship at Georgia Gwinnett College in February. The win follows another trophy for robot design and programming on January 20 at the Columbus State Superregional First Lego League competition.
The Bill Arp Technicators were selected as one of eight teams to advance to the Georgia State Championship at Georgia Gwinnett College on February 3. At the competition, the Techinators competed with 32 teams from around Georgia. Bill Arp Techinators presented their project, a hydroelectric generator that runs off of water traveling through a downspout.
While the Bill Arp group was not the one team selected to advance to the World’s Festival in Texas, the students involved gained much from the experience. “The First Lego League competition gives students an opportunity to learn much more than robotics,” said Matt Nauman, STEM teacher and team sponsor.
“They learn to work together in research and engineering teams, to propose and carry out projects as engineers, and to develop skills required to be successful promoters. We would like to thank all the engineers and other volunteers from the Douglas County Water and Sewer Authority who helped our team this season.”
