TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT KICKS OFF HOMELESS DONATION DRIVE

Transportation PictureThe Douglas County’s Rideshare/Multi-Modal Staff at the Transportation Center is hosting a donation drive to help members of the homeless community.  The event begins March 1st and runs through March 17th.  Donations can be dropped off at the Douglas County Transportation Center, 8800 Dorris Road, Douglasville, Georgia 30134.

The Transportation Center is open Monday through Friday from 5: 00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.   Other items that are welcome to be donated are bug repellent and sunscreen.

Donation items requested are deodorant, bar soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, combs, hairbrushes and toilet paper.

“ The change in weather brings out a change in clothing, so if you have a gently used light jacket or sweater that you no longer wear, we can use that too,” said Rideshare/Multi-Modal Director Gary Watson.  “Socks are another hot ticket item in high demand,” said Administrative Assistant Jerie Blackwood.

On behalf of Director Gary Watson, Assistant Director Davidae Walker, Administrative Assistant Jerie Blackwood, Operations Manager, Justin McDermott, Mobility Coordinator, Lawanda Jones, Customer Service Representatives Brenda Gartrell and Frances Farmer,  “Thank you for considering participating!”
