Project One Haiti Celebrates Chamber Membership

DSC_0047Project One Haiti Director, Angie Jeffers, board members, friends and Chamber representatives celebrated their new Chamber membership by holding a DC Chamber Ribbon Cutting at the Chamber on February 2nd.

Project One Haiti began after a visit to Haiti in August 2011. Angie and her husband, Chris, had been to Haiti several times after the earthquake but this was their first time to visit the Odascot Orphanage.  After seeing the children in such great need and the three women who were caring for them in such a state of exhaustion, they knew they had to do something to help them. Angie came home, prayed, spent time with God about the situation there, and thus Project One Haiti was established.

Project One Haiti provides many opportunities to serve through short-term mission trips or internships. Another way to be involved is to sponsor a child or donate to the organization itself to help with operation costs, medical bills and other necessary needs. Chamber President and CEO, Kali Boatright, welcomed Angie to the Chamber, “we are thrilled to have your organization as a member and we look forward to helping expand your reach for many years to come.”
