United Way Relocates to Former 911 Center
The United Way in Douglas County celebrated the relocation of their Douglasville office with a Chamber Ribbon Cutting yesterday. Their new office, located at 8595 Club Drive, is the former 911 Center Building which moved into their new facility last fall.
The United Way’s mission is to engage all segments of our community to drive sustainable change in education, income, health and homelessness, while continuing to address urgent and basic human care. The United Way -Douglas County Chairman of the Board, John Stone, welcomed everyone to the new location and thanked the Douglas County Government for making this transition possible and for all their cooperation. “The United Way is very appreciative to the entire Douglas County community for consistently coming together to support the United Way each and every day. We are grateful to service the area.”
Area Director of Douglas and Paulding Counties, Melanie Robinson, provided tours and encouraged attendees to sample the cupcakes that were donated by the Douglas County School System’s cafeteria workers in their own version of the Cupcake Wars television show. Robinson was also promoting the upcoming Shoebox Project which encourages people to create personal care packages by donating decorated shoeboxes filled with toiletries. Shoeboxes will be distributed to homeless women and children on Mother’s Day.
“The Douglas County Chamber is proud to be partners with the United Way” commented Chamber President & CEO, Kali Boatright. “Your passion for the community is contagious and it is evident that here in Douglasville we continue to LIVE UNITED.”
