The Douglas County Chamber’s Advancing Modern Professionals in Douglas Program (AMP’D) announced the recipients of the annual Continuing Education Scholarships at the GreyStone Power Luncheon on August 20th. Recipients were Elena Hudson with Hudson’s Hickory House, Kelsey Jones from the West Georgia Technical College Foundation, and Tiffany Smith with Junior League of Douglas County.
AMP’D awards scholarships totaling $1,500 to young professionals ages 21-40. The Continuing Education Scholarships are designed for young professionals from Chamber Member organizations that are seeking to continue their education on any level, whether pursuing a college degree, technical certification, or attending a professional development conference. A maximum of $500 is awarded to each individual selected.
Scholarship recipient Kelsey Jones commented, “I am humbled and grateful to be a recipient of the AMP’D Continuing Education Scholarship. I look forward to using this scholarship to help offset the tuition costs associated with my Doctor of Education program. I believe that by furthering my education, I will be better equipped to serve our community and my organization, West Georgia Technical College.”
“This scholarship will allot me with the financial freedom and flexibility to dedicate more time to school. After completing my degree at the University of West Georgia, I plan to attend Georgia State University and attend their College of Business where I’ll attain my Master of Business Administration,” commented Elena Hudson.
Tiffany Smith commented, “As a single mom, this scholarship will help me finish my Master’s Degree in Business with the intention of using the knowledge I gained through school, work, and community work to one day start my own nonprofit organization.”
