Bloom Our Youth, Inc. Marketing and Development Director, Kristin Melton, staff, and Chamber representatives gathered to hold a DC Chamber Ribbon Cutting on May 23rd. Bloom Our Youth is a private, nonprofit foster care organization that recruits, supports and trains foster families. They are located in Fayetteville, but serve multiple communities including Douglas County throughout the state.
Established in 1986, Bloom’s mission is deeply grounded in the belief that all children deserve the opportunity to achieve their personal best despite their circumstances. The nonprofit organization was formed with the purpose of providing safe shelter and physical, educational, and emotional support to children who have been the victims of abuse, neglect, or other tragic circumstances in order to strengthen them for the next phase of life. Over the past three decades, Bloom’s programs have influenced the lives of thousands of foster children. Recently, Bloom has collaborated with the Douglas County Division of Family and Children Services to recruit and license foster families who are willing to care for foster children in Douglas County.
Bloom advocates for foster children and families using a family-centric, three-pronged approach. This includes: recruiting, training, and certifying foster families through the Team Bloom Foster Parenting program; providing specialized training and support to Bloom Foster families through “Bloom University” training program. They also operate The Bloom Closet, a free clothing resource center for foster children in Georgia.
Chamber President and CEO, Sara Ray, welcomed Kristin, “We are thrilled to have Bloom in Douglas County, we truly appreciate the services you provide for foster care families here in our community. As Bloom continues to grow, we look forward to supporting and promoting your efforts to help families for many years to come.”
Bloom is currently seeking more individuals who are willing to open up their hearts and homes to children who are the victims of abuse, neglect, and tragic circumstances.
