The Douglas County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce its newest member of the 2012 Chairmans Club: Chris Pumphrey, Executive Director at the Development Authority of Douglas County. The mission of the Chairman’s Club is to convene community-minded, senior level business people to be visionaries for the Chamber and a voice for business in our community.
The Development Authority of Douglas County is an organization focused on promoting job creation, investment and tourism. Chris’ goal is to improve the competitive landscape of Douglas County for new and existing companies, and market Douglas County as a destination for people to grow their businesses, buy goods and enjoy the many assets of the community.
Prior to this role, Chris led numerous business recruitment efforts for the Georgia Department of Economic Development. While at the department he worked on new company locations resulting in over 3,000 new jobs to the state and $850 million of private capital investment. Through his time in economic development, he advised many of Georgia’s communities on improving their competitive position.
“We are excited to have the support of the Development Authority as a business partner, community advocate and of course a Chamber member,” commented DC Chamber President & CEO Kali Boatright. “Chris has made wonderful contributions to Douglasville in the past year and I look forward to continuing our solid partnership in the future.”
The Chairman’s Club represents businesses and individuals who have chosen to go the extra mile in their support for the Chamber and its mission; they do so because they believe that the voice of business must be heard. They are also leaders who invest time and money toward the job creation, quality of life, workforce development and marketing goals of the community. These top decision-makers develop valuable relationships among key business and political leaders and lend expertise on issues critical to their corporate goals and to the community’s growth and development.
