The Douglas County Chamber is pleased to announce that applications for the 2016-2017 Youth Leadership Douglas (YLD) program are now available. The goals of Youth Leadership Douglas are to provide opportunities for participants to develop an understanding of the meaning and responsibilities of personal, organizational and community leadership and to produce ethical leaders committed to active community involvement. This program is a partnership between the Chamber and the Douglas County School System.

Leadership is more than just raw talent and determination.  While a portion of great leadership is aptitude, a great deal of what it takes to be a leader is skill based and can be learned.  Participants will acquire and broaden their knowledge of local government, business and civic activities through this leadership program.  The Youth Leadership Douglas program is highly interactive which permits participants to review the impact each topic has on themselves as well as the larger community.  The program will provide students with personal and professional development opportunities that cater to each individual.

Youth Leadership Douglas is offered in three different sessions. Summer session is a six-week program that is held in June 2016. Fall session begins in August 2016 and ends in December 2016, and Spring session begins January 2017 and ends in May 2017. Current sophomores from Douglas County high schools (both public and private) are eligible. Students must apply and qualify through an application and interview process.

Applications are due by March 1st and are available online at www.douglascountygeorgia.com/youth-leadership-douglas. For more information on this program, please contact Sara Ray at 770.942.5022.
